Seussical the Musical
London College of Music | 2026
Director: Natasha Haws
A vibrant, full-scale production of Seussical the Musical, using a 22-person double-cast company, live band, and thrust staging to create a bold, physical, and playful world.
This was my second year directing the graduating Musical Theatre students at London College of Music, following NINE in 2025. I was very proud to be invited back to work with the third-year company again.
Direction
My approach was to move away from a traditional children's musical aesthetic and explore Seussical as contemporary musical theatre for an adult audience. I developed a fashion-forward visual concept with costume designer Alice McNicholas, while working with choreographer Thomas Andrew Smith to build an ensemble-led physical language that constantly transformed the world around the characters.
The production embraced the stranger, darker, and more emotionally complex elements of the story, balancing the spectacle and absurdity of Seuss with genuine emotional storytelling.
Creative Approach
